About the project “e-Schools: Comprehensive Informatization of School Business and Teaching Processes to Create Digitally Mature Schools for the 21st Century”

From 2015 to 2022, CARNET implemented the program ‘e-Schools: Comprehensive Informatization of School Business and Teaching Processes to Create Digitally Mature Schools for the 21st Century.’

The initial phase was a pilot project called ‘e-Schools: Establishing a System for Developing Digitally Mature Schools.’ The results of the pilot served as the foundation for the second phase, titled ‘e-Schools: Development of the System of Digitally Mature Schools (Phase II),’ which included all primary and secondary schools in Croatia funded by the state budget.

As part of the project, network infrastructure was installed in schools, and each school had at least one classroom equipped with smart boards and laptops for students. Additionally, all school staff were provided with laptops. Digital educational materials and teaching scenarios were developed for nearly all subjects and grades in primary and secondary education. To familiarize themselves with new technologies and teaching methods, teachers received continuous training throughout the project via webinars, workshops, and courses.

Our role

We participated in the e-School project as a provider of various content creation services.

In public procurement processes, we were awarded contracts to create educational content. We were responsible for developing digital educational materials and teaching scenarios for cross-curricular topics.

During 2017 and 2018, we developed digital educational materials and teaching scenarios in Biology and Chemistry for 7th and 8th grades of primary school and 1st and 2nd grades of high school.
Over these two years, we have provided systematic advisory support for the integration of digital technology in teaching, offering guidance to teachers in pilot schools through mobile support teams.

Throughout 2019 and 2020, we were particularly engaged in the development of digital materials, creating 350 teaching scenarios for seven cross-curricular topics and 190 interactive content items related to these scenarios. We developed digital educational materials in History and Geography (5th grade of primary school and 1st grade of high school), as well as Chemistry (3rd and 4th grades of high school).

During 2022 and 2023, we recorded over 200 interactive video lessons in History, Psychology, Sociology, and Politics and Economics for primary and secondary schools. Through this project, we gained valuable experience in organizing field and study recordings, as well as in creating elements of virtual reality. This experience allowed us to push the boundaries in the development of digital educational resources.
