School for Training and Education Pula: Smart Boards for a Better Future

As part of the Atollo project, in which Profil Klett participates as a coordinator, we recently visited the School for Training and Education Pula (STE Pula), one of the key partners in this important initiative. Atollo is a project dedicated to enhancing educational resources and inclusive education for children with special educational needs and developmental difficulties.

Our visit to the School for Training and Education Pula was of special significance as it marked the implementation of one of the crucial phases of the project – the equipping of 17 classrooms with smart boards, which will be used to pilot digital educational content while boosting mathematical and digital competencies of students. This equipment will enable teachers to convey knowledge more easily and effectively while providing students with an interactive and adaptive learning environment, which is crucial for their progress and development.

During the visit, we had the opportunity to speak with teachers and students who have already started using the smart boards in their classes. Their experiences and feedback were overwhelmingly positive. Teachers emphasized how new technologies offer greater flexibility in working with students, while students were excited about the possibilities that smart boards provide – from interactive presentations to educational games that foster creativity and critical thinking.

The School for Training and Education Pula, which has been operating for over six decades, first opened its doors in 1958 and is one of the oldest educational institutions in Pula. Currently, 104 students attend primary school, and 29 students attend secondary school. The primary school program includes classes, educational groups, and vocational training. In secondary school, students are trained for vocational occupations such as assistant cook and pastry chef, assistant gardener, assistant florist, assistant plumber, assistant auto body repairer, assistant tailor, and assistant fruit grower-vineyard worker-winemaker. Under the leadership of Principal Višnja Popović, the school has been dedicated for many years to providing education and support to children with special needs. The acquisition of smart boards, co-financed by the Erasmus+ program through the Atollo project, represents a significant step forward in their efforts.

“This visit was incredibly inspiring and further motivated us to continue working on this project, which will undoubtedly have long-term positive effects on the education system throughout the region. The Atollo project is ongoing, and we eagerly anticipate new activities and collaborations with our partners, all with the goal of creating a more inclusive and accessible education for all children.”

Zvonimir Stanić, Director of the Department of Modernization of Education and Training (Profil Klett)

“Thanks to the Atollo project, the school now has tools that will significantly improve the quality of teaching and facilitate the adaptation of educational content to each student.”
