Following the official launch of the DigPlay project earlier this spring, we had the opportunity to welcome our project partners to Krk, Croatia, for the first in-person consortium meeting on 27–28 May 2026.
As the lead partner of DigPlay, we hosted representatives of all seven partner organisations for two days of intensive discussions, workshops and joint planning. The meeting was an important first step in turning our shared vision for the project into concrete activities and establishing a strong foundation for the work ahead.
Over the two days, we worked with our partners on key areas of the project, from research and the development of the assessment approach to technology, educator engagement, communication and the planning of future pilot activities.
Bringing all partners together in person allowed us to explore ideas in greater depth, exchange perspectives and look at how the different elements of DigPlay can work together. A particular focus was placed on ensuring that the research, game-based assessment framework, digital platform and resources for educators develop as connected parts of a coherent and practical solution.
Combining Different Areas of Expertise
One of the strengths of the DigPlay partnership is the wide range of expertise represented in the consortium. The project brings together organisations with experience in education, research, technology, gaming, communication and the world of work.
The meeting in Krk gave us an opportunity to bring these different perspectives together and consider how they can contribute to a solution that is both educationally meaningful and relevant to real-world needs. This multidisciplinary approach will be important as we continue developing new ways to recognise digital competences through gaming.
Working as One Team
For us as the lead partner, the meeting was also an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation within the consortium and establish a shared approach to project implementation.
Through workshops and collaborative planning sessions, we aligned our priorities, exchanged knowledge and agreed on the next steps for the coming months. Meeting face to face also helped us build stronger working relationships across the partnership – something that will support our collaboration throughout the project.
Looking Ahead
Our first in-person consortium meeting in Krk marked an important milestone for DigPlay. We left the meeting with a clearer shared vision, concrete next steps and strong motivation to continue working together.
As the project progresses, we will continue coordinating the partnership and working closely with our partners across Europe to develop an innovative and inclusive approach to recognising young people’s digital skills.
