This past weekend, on March 28-29, 2025, we hosted our exciting regional EU Code Week hackathon for Croatia and Slovenia. The fully online event, held through Discord and Eventornado, brought together talented young minds from both countries, ready to tackle a challenging question: How can we leverage technology to create a personalized, engaging, and inclusive educational platform that caters to the diverse needs of learners and empowers educators?
The teams from Croatia and Slovenia rose to the challenge, showcasing their creativity and innovative thinking. Their ideas ranged from integrating artificial intelligence into learning platforms to developing assistant robots, all aiming to change the way we think about education. The enthusiasm and dedication were evident as the teams worked hard over the two days, preparing their final pitches for our evaluation jury, consisting of our EU Code Week Ambassador for Croatia Janko Radigović, our EU Code Week Ambassador for Slovenia Nejc Kurbus, and Leading Teachers in Croatia Danijela Maurac and Anita Čorak.
We were also honored to have Valentina Zadrija, an inspirational leader in the tech and digital world, as a guest speaker. Her journey served as a powerful reminder of the vast opportunities the tech world offers, motivating our competitors to continue pursuing their passions in technology.
The winners of this regional hackathon are the brilliant team from Slovenia, We Take Showers Daily. They were closely followed by team Robokacija from Croatia, who claimed the second place, and team TŠRB in third. We congratulate all the teams for their hard work and creativity! We are incredibly proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see how they continue to innovate and inspire the world of technology.
All three teams were recognized for their contributions and will receive well-deserved awards. The winning team will have the incredible opportunity to compete at the EU-level final, alongside a 200-euro voucher for a tech store for each team member. Second winners will receive a 50-euro voucher for a tech store and Predator backpacks sponsored by Acer. The third team will also receive Predator backpacks by Acer!
A big thank you to Acer Croatia for their generous sponsorship and support of the EU Code Week Hackathon. The fantastic Predator backpacks were a much-appreciated prize for our top teams, and we are grateful for their contribution to making this event a success.
